Significance of Divine River Ganga

Like all other rivers of India, Ganga is not only river but it is Divine River and more popularly known as ‘Mother Ganga’ or ‘Ganga Maiya.’ And, it is truly presented in the book “Ganga a Divinity in Flow” authored by well known writer Mr. Vijay Singal. In his book, Mr. Singal says “Ganga is divinity in flow, personification of piousness, symbol of life and emancipator of mankind. Though related to the great gods of Hindu Trinity in one way or the other, Ganga is considered as a goddess in her own right.”

Likewise, the Ganga River has been worshiped throughout the civilization; many of the civilizations and various cultures evolved along the Ganga River. Surprisingly, the people who live far from the Ganga River, they keep the water of Ganga River with safety nearby the temples and other worship place in their house; the purpose of keeping ‘Ganga Jal‘ (water of Ganga River) is to use while worshiping and in other sort of religious work.

A Journey of Ganga River

Right from the civilization, it is quite interesting to make journey of divine river Ganga; starting from the ‘Gangotri,’ the origination point of Ganga in Uttarakhand state of India to the Bay of Bengal. Besides, there are lots of popular and spiritual places including Rishikesh, Haridwar, Varanasi etc. where people not only from India but also from all over the world come to take a holy bath in the divine river and worship in temples constructed on the River bank.

The Divine River ‘GANGA'

Originating from the Gangotri Glacier of Uttarakhand state of India, the River Ganga flows about 2, 525 km and finally debouches into the Bay of Bengal in Bangladesh. Unlike other rivers of India, the Ganga River is very important river; it is divine river of India. This is the only river that has been worshiped since the inception of civilization. In addition, it is not only Indian people but the tourists and other visitors from various countries also visit and take divine bath in Ganga River.

Ganga River flows through Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal states of India. Interestingly, the Divine River Ganga is being worshiped throughout its journey from Gangotri Uttarakhand to West Bengal; though, after West Bengal state of India, the River Ganga enters in Bangladesh where it meets with Brahmaputra River and finally falls into the Bay of Bengal.
